General music students at Rockvale High School learn about music through experience. In a year of general music, students learn to play the guitar, recorder, keyboard as well as learn to read, play, sing and notate music.

General music students also learn about many historically famous composers (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, etc.) and listen to their "greatest hits".

Students also create their own music using programs like Noteflight and Soundtrap.
