Welcome to the Rockvale Fine Arts Program, Theatre, Film and Television!  I am David Hutson and I teach Film and TV  as well as Theatre 1 here at Rockvale High School.  I am so excited to be here and be a Rocket! This is my second year here at Rockvale but, I have been teaching in Rutherford County for the past 16 years. Through that time my focus has been Theatre however, I have also taught Personal Finance, but Theatre is and always will be my first love. This year I am excited to be able to teach a class in Film and Television! I have been a fan of both all my life and am excited to be able to expand your students understanding of Film and Television from its earliest days, to the present.

 

Theater is what brought me into education. I came late to the field, graduating from MTSU in 2006. Before that I ran a Community Theatre from 1999 till around 2012. Before going back to school I worked in, mostly, the private financial sector. I love creating a play, working with the students, designing, building, writing and teaching all people about Theatre!

 

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Theatre with minors in Directing, Education and History from MTSU and am certified in Personal Finance (Which I taught for 2 years). I started out teaching with Mrs. Kim Boyd-Hughes at La Vergne High School in 2007 and am thrilled to be reunited with her here at Rockvale. I share her teaching philosophy of respecting differences, tapping into talents, and sharing my love for the Arts and learning with my students, you're never too old to learn.

I believe that we will do great things together here at Rockvale! To quote from a movie (after all I do teach film)  "Welcome to The ROCK!",
