Welcome Back to School!

Hello Rockvale High School Students and Parents,

We are looking forward to the new school year, and we are excited about seeing our students again.  This year is extra special because our seniors, the class of 2023, are the first graduating class that has attended the new Rockvale High School for all four years.

This message contains a lot of information in reference to the beginning of the year.

Friday, August 5th is a 2-hour day for students (8:30-10:30). Breakfast will not be served. Students will report to rooms by last name to pick up a copy of their schedules. We will have posters throughout the building to help direct students to the correct classroom. Students will attend all 7 classes on Friday to meet their teachers. Students will be able to view their schedules online in Skyward on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 4:00 pm.

Students who drive will need to park in the back two parking lots. Students will not be allowed to park in the front parking lots. Parking passes will go on sale August 15thand will be sold in the Fueling Station during lunch.

Students who ride a bus will need to make sure they pay attention to the bus number of the bus that they rode to school. This bus will be the same bus that they need to ride in the afternoon. More information about bus routes can be found at this link.

Universal Free Meals for All has expired. YOU MUST APPLY for free or reduced benefits this year. Applications are available online or paper copies by request. Full pay breakfast will be $2.00 and lunch will be $3.50 for students. You can pay with a credit card on the My Payments plus app. All the information is on the cafeteria page on our website." Qualifying for the free and reduced meal and fee program will help families avoid building up debt due to charging lunches. More information can be found at this link. We encourage all families to apply.

We will be hosting the “Walk the Rock” open house on August 9th from 6:00-7:00 pm. The doors will open at 5:30. All students and parents are invited to come and meet their child’s teacher and tour the building. We will have Rocket shirts and items for sale during the event.

To increase school safety for our teachers and students, parents will not be allowed in the building to check out students or drop off items. School safety is our number one concern. To check a student out, parents will come to the school, scan the QR code posted at the door, and show their ID at the camera. Students will then be dismissed after our secretary verifies the contact. For item drop offs, we will have a cart by the front doors. Parents can drop their items off and text their child. During class changes, when students have access to their phones, they can come to the office to retrieve their items.

RCS has a new personal electric device policy effective this year.  As a parent, you most likely know that cell phones and social media are a major distraction to students during instruction. Students will be allowed to use their phones in the hall during class change and lunch and any time outside of the class. Please speak with your child about the importance of keeping their cell phones off during class time. To accommodate for the new no cell phone policy, each student will be issued a school laptop that can be used at home or school. They may also purchase a $20 insurance policy for lost or damaged devices. Student may only pay through the school's online payment program. More information can be found at this link. The electronic device policy and a user guide for School Cash Online is attached.

Again, we can't wait to see all our students back at the Vale this year.Personal Devices Procedures.png Parent Registration Guide.docx
